Abstract

A method of making an electroluminescent device having a substrate, and at least one blue light emitting layer and at least one non-emissive layer containing an emissive material that emits light longer in wavelength than blue light, these two layers being directly separated by and in direct contact with a non-emissive buffer layer; and heating the electroluminescent device after fabrication to cause the long wavelength emissive material to diffuse from the non-emissive layer into at least the buffer layer such that the long wavelength emissive material comes into contact with the blue light-emitting layer such that the recombination energy in the emitting layer is preferentially transferred to the diffused emissive material compared to the blue emissive material and the light emitted is longer in wavelength than blue light.

La présente invention concerne un procédé consistant à fabriquer un dispositif électroluminescent comportant un substrat, ainsi qu'au moins une couche d'émission de lumière bleue et au moins une couche non émissive contenant une matière émissive qui émet de la lumière à longueur d'onde plus grande que la lumière bleue, ces deux couches étant séparées directement par une couche tampon non émissive et en contact direct avec celle-ci; et à chauffer le dispositif électroluminescent après fabrication pour amener la matière émissive à grande longueur d'onde à se diffuser à partir de la couche non émissive dans au moins une couche tampon de sorte que la matière émissive à grande longueur d'onde vienne en contact avec la couche d'émission de lumière bleue afin que l'énergie de recombinaison dans la couche d'émission soit de préférence transférée vers la matière émissive diffusée plutôt que vers la matière d'émission de lumière bleue et la lumière émise présente une longueur d'onde plus grande que la lumière bleue.
