The positions of a plurality of transmission devices are accurately detected by a direct wave which arrives first at a reception device without being affected by other ultrasonic signals from the transmission devices. Specifically disclosed is a position detection system provided with a mobile object which includes a transmission device that simultaneously transmits a trigger signal and an ultrasonic signal obtained by modulating a signal with a frequency used as a reference on the basis of pseudorandom sequence data with high autocorrelativity, and a reception device which detects the position of the mobile object, wherein the reception processing device includes a means for filtering the reception waveform of the ultrasonic signal and a pseudorandom sequence model waveform that is predetermined according to the mobile object, and calculating a correlation value between both the waveforms, a means for calculating, from a point in time when the trigger signal is received and a point in time when the first peak value of the correlation value is detected, the ultrasonic propagation times that the ultrasonic signal takes to reach two ultrasonic reception means, and a means for calculating the position of the mobile object on the basis of the ultrasonic propagation times and the interval length between the ultrasonic reception means, and a different sequence having low cross correlation is used as the pseudorandom sequence.
