In order to keep down the scan pulse voltage (amplitude) necessary for producing stable write discharges, to produce stable write discharges, and to obtain high image display quality, an image display region on a plasma display panel is divided into a plurality of regions, and in each region a partial illumination ratio is detected per subfield, said partial illumination ratio being the ratio of the number of discharge cells to be illuminated to the total number of discharge cells in the region. The region that has the highest partial illumination ratio is detected and identified as a first region, and a region adjacent to the first region is identified as a second region. A corrected partial illumination ratio is calculated by adding a prescribed offset to the partial illumination ratio of the second region. The partial illumination ratio and the corrected partial illumination ratio are compared to determine which is larger, and the order in which to perform write operations in the various regions is decided on the basis of the results of the comparison.

Selon l'invention, pour maintenir basse la tension (amplitude) d'impulsion de balayage nécessaire pour produire des décharges d'écriture stables, pour produire des décharges d'écriture stables et pour obtenir une qualité d'affichage d'image élevée, une région d'affichage d'image sur un panneau d'affichage à plasma est divisée en une pluralité de régions, et, dans chaque région, un rapport d'éclairage partiel est détecté pour chaque sous-trame, ledit rapport d'éclairage partiel étant le rapport du nombre de cellules de décharge devant être éclairées au nombre total de cellules de décharge dans la région. La région qui a le rapport d'éclairage partiel le plus élevé est détectée et identifiée comme étant une première région, et une région adjacente à la première région est identifiée comme étant une deuxième région. Un rapport d'éclairage partiel corrigé est calculé par addition d'un décalage prescrit au rapport d'éclairage partiel de la deuxième région. Le rapport d'éclairage partiel et le rapport d'éclairage partiel corrigé sont comparés afin de déterminer lequel est le plus grand, et l'ordre dans lequel il faut effectuer des opérations d'écriture dans les différentes régions est décidé en fonction des résultats de la comparaison.

 安定した書込み放電を発生するために必要な走査パルス電圧(振幅)が増大することを防止して安定した書込み放電を発生し、高い画像表示品質を実現する。そのために、プラズマディスプレイパネルの画像表示領域を複数の領域に分け、それぞれの領域において、各領域内の全放電セル数に対する点灯するべき放電セル数の割合を各領域の部分点灯率としてサブフィールド毎に検出し、部分点灯率が最大となる領域を検出してその領域を第1の領域とし、第1の領域に隣接する領域を第2の領域として、第2の領域の部分点灯率に所定のオフセット値を加算して補正後部分点灯率とし、部分点灯率および補正後部分点灯率の大小比較を行い、その大小比較の結果にもとづき各領域における書込み動作を行う順番を決定する。
