Abstract

A method (30) of ascertaining a target position in an electronic device comprising a GPS receiver, a digital camera and a display is presented. Method steps comprise: Creating (32) a map picture of a physical map. Comparing (34) at least a portion of the map picture with maps stored in a database (36) to find an actual map. Indicating (40) a first position e.g. on the map picture. Matching (42) the first position with an actua! position utilizing the actual map. The actual position being in a format to be utilized by the GPS receiver as the target position. A wireless electronic device adapted to present a suggested target position is also presented.

L'invention porte sur un procédé (30) pour établir une position cible dans un dispositif électronique qui comporte un récepteur de GPS, une caméra numérique et un dispositif d'affichage. Des étapes du procédé comportent : la création (32) d'une image de carte d'une carte physique ; la comparaison (34) d'au moins une partie de l'image de carte à des cartes stockées dans une base de données (36) pour trouver une carte réelle ; l'indication (40) d'une première position, par exemple sur l'image de carte ; la mise en correspondance (42) de la première position avec une position réelle à l'aide de la carte réelle, la position réelle étant dans un format destiné à être utilisé par le récepteur de GPS comme position cible. L'invention porte également sur un dispositif électronique sans fil conçu pour présenter une position cible suggérée.
