Abstract

A swage is made from segments that slide relatively to each other to go from a run in dimension to a maximum or built dimension when the segments move into alignment. The angle of inclination of the sliding axis between the members is less than the swaging angle for the pipe on the exterior of the segments so that once the segments are aligned and driven into a tubular for swaging they are precluded from extending into misalignment to clear an obstruction. In this manner a minimum drift is provided or the swage simply stalls. To facilitate building the swage in a tubular to the predetermined maximum dimension, the sliding surfaces are configured at an angle to bear the radial reaction forces from the tubular more directly thereby reducing the contact forces and the resulting friction. The edge connections are also configured to reduce bending which can cause segment binding as the swage is built in the tubular.

L'invention concerne un raccord serti constitué de segments qui coulissent les uns par rapport aux autres pour passer d'une cote d'insertion à une cote maximale ou posée lorsque les segments s'alignent. L'angle d'inclinaison de l'axe de coulissement entre les éléments est inférieur à l'angle de sertissage du tube à l'extérieur des segments, ce qui fait qu'une fois les segments alignés et enfoncés dans un espace tubulaire en vue du sertissage, ils sont empêchés de s'étendre jusqu'à se désaligner pour franchir une obstruction. De cette manière, une dérive minimale est assurée, ou le raccord serti se bloque simplement. Afin de faciliter l'intégration du raccord serti dans un espace tubulaire à la cote maximale prédéterminée, les surfaces de coulissement sont configurées sous un certain angle afin de supporter plus directement les efforts de réaction radiale provenant de l'espace tubulaire, réduisant ainsi les efforts de contact et le frottement résultant. Les raccords de bords sont également configurés de façon à réduire la flexion, qui peut provoquer un coincement des segments tandis que le raccord serti est intégré à l'espace tubulaire.
