Abstract

A cutting element for use in a drilling bit and/or milling bit having a cutter body made of a substrate having an upper surface, and a superabrasive layer overlying the upper surface of the substrate. The cutting element further including a sleeve extending around a portion of a side surface of the superabrasive layer and a side surface of the substrate, wherein the sleeve exerts a radially compressive force on the superabrasive layer.

La présente invention a trait à un élément de découpe destiné à être utilisé dans un outil de forage et/ou un outil de fraisage doté d'un corps d'organe de coupe constitué d'un substrat pourvu d'une surface supérieure et d'une couche superabrasive recouvrant la surface supérieure du substrat. L'élément de découpe inclut en outre un manchon s'étendant autour d'une partie d'une surface latérale de la couche superabrasive et d'une surface latérale du substrat, lequel manchon exerce une force de compression radiale sur la couche superabrasive.
