The present invention provides an apparatus and method for measuring flow velocity of a multi-phase fluid mixture. The proposed apparatus (1) comprises radiation means (2), detecting means (3), and analysis means (3). The radiation means (2) generates a beam (11, 12) of photons to irradiate said mixture spatially over a section (19) of flow of the mixture. The detection means (3) is spatially configured to receive photons emanating from said the section (19) of flow of the mixture at different intervals of time, and provides an image of a spatial distribution of the received photons for each said interval of time. The analysis means (4) determines flow velocity of one or more phases of said mixture based on a temporal sequence of the images of the spatial distributions of the received photons.

La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de mesurer la vitesse d'écoulement d'un mélange de fluides de plusieurs phases. L'appareil proposé (1) comprend un organe à rayonnement (2), un organe de détection (3), et un organe d'analyse (4). L'organe à rayonnement (3) génère un faisceau (11, 12) de photons venant irradier spatialement ledit mélange sur un segment (19) d'écoulement du mélange. L'organe de détection (3) qui est spatialement configuré de façon à recevoir des photons émanant dudit segment (19) d'écoulement du mélange à différents intervalles de temps, fournit une image d'une distribution spatiale des photons reçus pour chaque intervalle de temps considéré. L'organe d'analyse (4) détermine la vitesse d'écoulement d'une ou de plusieurs des phases dudit mélange sur la base d'une séquence temporelle des images des distributions spatiales des photons reçus.
