La présente invention concerne une amélioration apportée à un tube de commutation à vide (1) dont l'enveloppe comporte deux zones (16, 17) faites en matière isolante, et se présentant symétriquement par rapport à un plan médian (S), ces deux zones (16, 17) en matière isolante réunissant, quant à elles, plusieurs parties d'enveloppe (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) en matière isolante. En l'occurrence, l'invention propose que, dans chaque zone d'enveloppe en matière isolante (16, 17), la partie d'enveloppe en matière isolante (9, 12) la plus éloignée du plan médian (S) présente une longueur (L1) supérieure à la longueur (L2, L3) des autres parties d'enveloppe en matière isolante (10, 11, 13, 14). L'invention permet ainsi la réalisation d'un tube de commutation à vide (1) se distinguant par sa rigidité diélectrique élevée, et sa compacité.
