Disclosed is a process for producing a hydrocarbon fraction rich in components boiling in the range typical for diesel fuel comprising contacting a feedstock comprising one or more C2 to C10 alkenes with a modified zeolite catalyst having a one-dimensional micropore structure consisting of channels made from rings containing between 8 and 12 silicon/aluminium atoms at a temperature in the range 100 to 5000C and pressure in the range 0.1 to 200 bar characterised in that the modified zeolite catalyst is one which has been prepared by treating a corresponding zeolite precursor with an alkaline solution. The alkaline solution used to treat the zeolite precursor can be for example aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. Relative to equivalent untreated zeolites the modified zeolite catalysts described show improved catalyst life and selectivity to hydrocarbons boiling in the range 250 to 3500C.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'une fraction d'hydrocarbure riche en constituants ayant une plage d'ébullition propre au carburant diesel. Le procédé consiste à mettre en contact une charge de départ comprenant un ou plusieurs alcènes C2 à C10 avec un catalyseur zéolitique modifié présentant une structure microporeuse unidimensionnelle constituée de canaux formés à partie d'anneaux contenant entre 8 et 12 atomes de silicium/carbone à une température comprise dans la plage 100- 5000C et à une pression comprise dans la plage 0,1-200 bar; ladite structure étant caractérisée en ce que le catalyseur zéolitique modifié est un catalyseur qui a été préparé par traitement d'un précurseur de zéolite correspondant avec une solution alcaline. La solution alcaline utilisée pour traiter le précurseur de zéolite peut être par exemple une solution d'hydroxyde de sodium aqueuse. Comparativement à des zéolites non traitées équivalentes, les catalyseurs zéolitiques modifiés décrits dans cette invention présentent une durée de vie plus longue et une sélectivité améliorée envers les hydrocarbures dont l'ébullition se produit dans la plage 250-3500C.
