Abstract:
(EN) In various embodiments, an illumination apparatus includes a substantially planar waveguide, a plurality of light sources embedded within the in-coupling region of the waveguide, and a film disposed over the out-coupling region of the waveguide. The film has a thickness less than approximately 100 µm and comprises or consists essentially of a photoluminescent material. The photoluminescent material converts a portion of light emitted by at least one of the light sources to a different wavelength. A surface of the out- coupling region has an average reflectivity of greater than approximately 90%. Light emitted by the light sources mixes with light converted by the photoluminescent material to form substantially white light, and the conversion efficiency of the illumination apparatus is greater than approximately 70%.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil d'éclairage comprenant un guide d'onde pratiquement planaire, une pluralité de sources lumineuses incorporée dans la région de couplage d'entrée du guide d'onde, et un film disposé sur la région de couplage de sortie du guide d'onde. Le film a une épaisseur inférieure à environ 100 µm et comprend essentiellement un matériau photoluminescent ou est essentiellement composé d'un matériau luminescent. Le matériau photoluminescent convertit une partie de la lumière émise par au moins une des sources lumineuses en une longueur d'onde différente. Une surface de la région de couplage de sortie a une réflectivité moyenne supérieure à environ 90 %. La lumière émise par les sources lumineuses se mélange à la lumière convertie par le matériau photoluminescent pour former une lumière pratiquement blanche, et l'efficacité de conversion de l'appareil d'éclairage est supérieure à environ 70 %.
