(EN)The present invention provides a method for inhibiting the adherence of a microorganism to a surface, said method comprising contacting said microorganism and/or the surface with an alginate oligomer, wherein said alginate oligomer has a number average degree of polymerisation of 8-50 and wherein at least 90% of the monomer residues are guluronate. Both medical and non-medical uses are provided.
(FR)Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant d'inhiber l'adhérence d'un micro-organisme à une surface, ledit procédé comprenant la mise en contact dudit micro-organisme et/ou de la surface avec un oligomère d'alginate. L'oligomère d'alginate selon l'invention a un degré de polymérisation moyen en nombre d 8 à 50 et au moins 90 % des résidus monomères sont du type guluronate. Des utilisations à visée à la fois médicale et non médicale sont décrites.
