(EN)Disclosed is a material having an excellent secondary electron emission coefficient under practically available production conditions, which enables PDPs to be driven at low voltages. A crystalline oxide selected from CaSnO3, SrSnO3, BaSnO3 and a solid solution comprising two or more of the aforementioned substances is subjected to a treatment for reducing the quantity of Ca, Sr or Ba in the vicinity of the surface thereof. The treated crystalline oxide can be used as a protective layer material to produce a plasma display panel.
(FR)L'invention porte sur un matériau ayant un excellent coefficient d'émission d'électrons secondaires dans des conditions de production réalisables en pratique, qui permet de piloter des panneaux d'affichage à plasma (PDP) à des tensions faibles. Un oxyde cristallin choisi parmi CaSnO3, SrSnO3, BaSnO3 et une solution solide comprenant deux ou plus des substances susmentionnées est soumis à un traitement de réduction de la quantité de Ca, Sr ou Ba au voisinage de sa surface. L'oxyde cristallin traité peut être utilisé en tant que matériau de couche protectrice pour produire un panneau d'affichage à plasma.
