A method is provided for analysing the self-similarity of an audio file. The method involves obtaining the audio spectrum envelope data of an audio file to be analysed; performing a clustering operation on the spectrum envelope data to produce a clustered set of data; for a first portion of the clustered data, performing a string matching operation on at least one other portion of the clustered data; and based on the results of the string matching operation, determining the at least one other portion of the clustered data most similar to said first portion of the clustered data. There is also provided a method of repairing an audio stream received over a network using similarity data to replace damaged or missing portions of data with similar "good" portions of data.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'analyser l'autosimilarité d'un fichier audio. Le procédé consiste à: obtenir des données d'enveloppe du spectre sonore d'un fichier audio à analyser; réaliser une opération de regroupement sur les données d'enveloppe du spectre afin de produire un ensemble de données regroupées; réaliser, pour une première partie des données regroupées, une opération de rapprochement de chaînes sur au moins une autre partie des données regroupées; et, sur la base du résultat de l'opération de rapprochement de chaînes, déterminer celle des autres parties des données regroupées qui se rapproche le plus de la première partie des données regroupées. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé qui permet de réparer un flux audio reçu dans un réseau, en utilisant des données de similarité pour remplacer des parties endommagées ou manquantes des données par des parties de données "saines" similaires.
