Abstract:
(EN) An ion trap includes an electrode structure, including a first and a second opposed mirror electrodes and a central lens therebetween, that produces an electrostatic potential in which ions are confined to trajectories at natural oscillation frequencies, the confining potential being anharmonic. The ion trap also includes an AC excitation source having an excitation frequency f that excites confined ions at a frequency of about twice the natural oscillation frequency of the ions, the AC excitation frequency source preferably being connected to the central lens. In one embodiment, the ion trap includes a scan control that mass selectively reduces a frequency difference between the AC excitation frequency and about twice the natural oscillation frequency of the ions.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un piège à ions qui comprend une structure à électrodes comprenant des première et seconde électrodes opposées symétriques et une lentille centrale entre elles, qui produit un potentiel électrostatique dans lequel des ions sont confinés à des trajectoires à des fréquences d'oscillation propres, le potentiel de confinement étant anharmonique. Le piège à ions comprend également une source d'excitation à courant alternatif (CA) ayant une fréquence d'excitation qui excite des ions confinés à une fréquence d'environ deux fois la fréquence d'oscillation propre des ions, la source de fréquence d'oscillation CA étant de préférence connectée à la lentille centrale. Dans un mode de réalisation, le piège à ions comprend une commande de balayage qui réduit, de façon sélective en masse, une différence de fréquence entre la fréquence d'excitation CA et environ deux fois la fréquence d'oscillation propre des ions.
