(EN)An expandable mechanical distension device for hollow organ growth comprising a spring stent structure to elongate hollow organs by mechanical expansion. The device preferably expands radially to engage the internal walls of the hollow organ segment at a desired treatment location and expands axially to enlarge the hollow organ segment. The distension device may be configured for the treatment of patients with insufficient hollow viscus, e.g. hollow organ deficiency such as short gut syndrome, to enhance their gut length by mechanical force.
(FR)L'invention concerne un dispositif extensible de distension mécanique pour la croissance des organes creux, le dispositif comprenant une structure de stent élastique pour allonger les organes creux par expansion mécanique. Le dispositif se déploie de préférence radialement pour venir en contact avec les parois internes du segment d'organe creux à un emplacement de traitement souhaité et se déploie axialement pour agrandir le segment d'organe creux. Le dispositif de distension peut être conçu pour traiter des patients n'ayant pas suffisamment de viscères creux, par exemple un manque d'organe creux tel que le syndrome de l'intestin court, pour allonger leur intestin sous l'action d'une force mécanique.
