(EN)A sensor (100) for in-vivo tissue elasticity measurement is disclosed. The sensor utilises a micro-fabricated structure comprising multiple membranes (120a-c) with varying stiffness and is particularly designed for integration coupled to a medical instrument, such as a probe, an endoscopic tool, or another minimally invasive, instrument. Preferably, the sensor comprises an array of MEMS capacitive sensors fabricated using surface micromachining.
