Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device (100) wherein each pixel has a first electrode (12), a second electrode (22), a liquid crystal layer (32) provided between the first electrode and second electrode, a first vertical orientation film (14) provided between the first electrode and the liquid crystal layer, a second vertical orientation film (24) provided between the second electrode and the liquid crystal layer, and a pair of orientation maintaining layers (16, 26) consisting of photoproducts (16a, 26a) and formed, respectively, on the surface of the first and second vertical orientation films on the liquid crystal layer side, and the photoproducts (16a, 26a) of the pair of orientation maintaining layers cover the region which is 30-60% of the area of transmission regions of the first and second vertical orientation films (14, 24).  Consequently, mass production stability and reliability of the liquid crystal display device can be enhanced.

L'invention concerne un dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides (100) dans lequel chaque pixel comporte une première électrode (12), une seconde électrode (22), une couche de cristaux liquides (32) disposée entre la première électrode et la seconde électrode, une première pellicule d'orientation verticale (14) disposée entre la première électrode et la couche de cristaux liquides, une seconde pellicule d'orientation verticale (24) disposée entre la seconde électrode et la couche de cristaux liquides, et une paire de couches de maintien d'orientation (16, 26) constituées de photoproduits (16a, 26a) et formées, respectivement, sur la surface des première et seconde pellicules d'orientation verticale du côté de la couche de cristaux liquides. Les photoproduits (16a, 26a) de la paire de couches de maintien d'orientation recouvrent la zone qui constitue 30-60 % de l'aire des zones de transmission des première et seconde pellicules d'orientation verticale (14, 24). Cela permet par conséquent d'améliorer la stabilité de la production de masse et la fiabilité du dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides.

 本発明の液晶表示装置100は、各画素が、第1電極12と、第2電極22と、第1電極と第2電極との間に設けられた液晶層32と、第1電極と液晶層との間に設けられた第1垂直配向膜14と、第2電極と液晶層との間に設けられた第2垂直配向膜24と、第1および第2垂直配向膜の液晶層側の表面のそれぞれに形成された光重合体16a、26aから構成された一対の配向維持層16、26とを有し、一対の配向維持層の光重合体16a、26aは、第1および第2垂直配向膜14、24のそれぞれの透過領域の面積の30%以上60%以下の領域を覆っている。それによって、液晶表示装置の量産安定性および信頼性を向上させることができる。
