Abstract:
(EN) The present disclosure relates to a non-invasive and real-time diagnostic analysis concept for an operational single mode optical fiber communication system and methods of using said system. The system comprises an optical fiber capable of being diagnosed non-invasively comprising an optical fiber for conveying a light beam that comprises an optical fiber comprising a first end for receiving the light beam and a second end opposed thereto, a core comprising an inner wall, and a cladding surrounding the core, the optical fiber further comprising at least one uncladded portion comprising a plurality of quantum dots dispersed in a medium, and wherein the quantum dots become activated by evanescent wave coupling resulting from total internal reflection of the light beam contacting the inner wall of the optical fiber core and wherein the activation results in emittance of light from the quantum dots.
(FR) La présente invention porte sur un concept d'analyse de diagnostic non invasif et en temps réel pour un système de communication à fibre optique monomode fonctionnel et sur des procédés d'utilisation dudit système. Le système comprend une fibre optique capable d'être diagnostiquée de manière non invasive, comprenant une fibre optique pour transporter un faisceau lumineux, qui comprend une fibre optique comprenant une première extrémité pour recevoir le faisceau lumineux et une seconde extrémité opposée à celle-ci, une âme comprenant une paroi interne, et une gaine entourant l'âme, la fibre optique comprenant en outre au moins une partie non gainée comprenant une pluralité de points quantiques dispersés dans un milieu, et les points quantiques devenant activés par un couplage d'onde évanescente résultant de la réflexion interne totale du faisceau lumineux entrant en contact avec la paroi interne de l'âme de fibre optique, et l'activation conduisant à l'émission de lumière à partir des points quantiques.
