Abstract:
(EN) An improved process for forming a PTFE mat is described. The process includes providing a dispersion with PTFE, a fiberizing polymer and a solvent wherein said dispersion has a viscosity of at least 50,000 cP. An apparatus is provided which comprises a charge source and a target a distance from the charge source. A voltage source is provided which creates a first charge at the charge source and an opposing charge at the target. The dispersion is electrostatically charged by contact with the charge source. The electrostatically charged dispersion is collected on the target to form a mat precursor which is heated to remove the solvent and the fiberizing polymer thereby forming the PTFE mat.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré de formation d'un mat de polytétrafluoroéthylène (PTFE). Ce procédé consiste à obtenir une dispersion contenant du PTFE, un polymère de fibrage et un solvant, cette dispersion présentant une viscosité d'au moins 50 000 cP. L'invention concerne également un appareil comprenant une source de charge et une cible placée à distance de la source de charge. Une source de tension crée une première charge au niveau de la source de charge et une charge opposée au niveau de la cible. La dispersion est chargée électrostatiquement par contact avec la source de charge. La dispersion chargée électrostatiquement est recueillie sur la cible pour former un précurseur de mat qui est ensuite chauffé pour que soient éliminé le solvant et le polymère de fibrage, de sorte à former ledit mat de PTFE.
