Abstract:
(EN) One embodiment provides a process for preparing an asphalt-coated crumb rubber composition that meets the specification set forth in ASTM D80-02 or deviations thereof which may be established by the specifying agency from time to time. The process generally comprises obtaining asphalt of different penetration grades, combining the asphalt of each grade with preselected chemicals to form separate premixed components, blending the premixed components together under predetermined conditions to form, upon curing, an asphalt-coated crumb rubber composition that meets certain physical requirements for asphalt-rubber binder (ARB), such as those set forth in ASTM D8-02. Advantageously, the resulting asphalt-coated crumb rubber composition not only meets the physical requirements of ARB used in road paving but also has improved dispersion of the rubber, such as dispersion of the rubber in an oil-in-water emulsion of an asphalt.
(FR) La présente invention porte, dans un mode de réalisation, sur un procédé de préparation d'une composition de caoutchouc granulaire revêtu de bitume qui satisfait à la spécification établie dans ASTM D80-02 ou à des écarts par rapport à celle-ci qui peuvent de temps à autre être établis par l'organisme de spécification. Le procédé comprend d'une manière générale les opérations consistant à obtenir du bitume de différentes qualités de pénétration, combiner le bitume de chaque qualité avec des produits chimiques présélectionnés pour former des composants prémélangés séparés, mélanger ensemble les composants prémélangés dans des conditions prédéterminées pour former, lors du durcissement, une composition de caoutchouc granulaire revêtu de bitume qui satisfait certaines exigences physiques pour un liant bitume-caoutchouc (ARB), telles que celles établies dans ASTM D8-02. De manière avantageuse, la composition résultante de caoutchouc granulaire revêtu de bitume non seulement satisfait les exigences physiques de l'ARB utilisé pour le revêtement routier, mais encore possède une dispersion améliorée du caoutchouc, telle qu'une dispersion du caoutchouc dans une émulsion huile-dans-eau d'un bitume.
