Abstract:
(EN) A clamshell lathe that can be utilized to machine or mill a portion of a workpiece such as a tube or pipe, wherein the clamshell lathe is a generally annular device that includes a stationary member and a rotatable member each preferably comprising semi-cylindrical halves that are connected together around the workpiece to be machined. The stationary member includes a bearing channel in which bearings of the rotatable member travel when the rotatable member is activated. In a preferred embodiment, an inner wall of the bearing channel has an angled end portion that is positioned adjacent an angled end portion of the rotatable member.
(FR) L'invention concerne un tour à double mâchoire qui peut être utilisé pour usiner ou meuler une partie d'une pièce telle qu'un tube ou un conduit, le tour à double mâchoire étant un dispositif globalement annulaire qui comprend un élément stationnaire et un élément rotatif, chacun comprenant de préférence des moitiés semi-cylindriques reliées l'une à l'autre autour de la pièce à usiner. L'élément stationnaire comprend un canal à palier dans lequel des paliers de l'élément rotatif se déplacent lorsque l'élément rotatif est actionné. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la paroi intérieure du canal à palier présente une partie d'extrémité oblique située en position adjacente à une partie d'extrémité oblique de l'élément rotatif.
