Abstract:
(EN) This invention provides an integrated three step economical process for the production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) from acetic acid in the vapor phase. First, acetic acid is selectively hydrogenated over a hydrogenating catalyst composition to form ethyl acetate which is cracked to form ethylene and acetic acid in the second step and in a subsequent step so formed ethylene and acetic acid is reacted with molecular oxygen over a suitable catalyst to form VAM. In an embodiment of this invention reaction of acetic acid and hydrogen over platinum and copper supported on silica selectively produces ethyl acetate in a vapor phase at a temperature of about 250°C, which is cracked over a NAFION catalyst to form ethylene and acetic acid at a temperature of about 185°C, which is mixed with molecular oxygen and reacted over a palladium/gold/potassium catalyst supported on titania to form VAM at a temperature of about 150°C to 170°C.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé économique intégré en trois étapes de production de monomères d'acétate de vinyle (MAV) à partir d'acide acétique en phase vapeur. Dans un premier temps, l'acide acétique est hydrogéné sélectivement sur une composition de catalyseur d'hydrogénation pour former l'acétate d'éthyle, qui est craqué pour former de l'éthylène et de l'acide acétique dans la seconde étape. Dans une étape ultérieure, l'éthylène et l'acide acétique ainsi formés réagissent avec l'oxygène moléculaire sur un catalyseur adapté pour former le MAV. Dans l'un des modes d'application de la présente invention, la réaction de l'acide acétique et de l'hydrogène sur platine et cuivre supportés sur silice produit de l'acétate d'éthyle en phase vapeur à une température d'environ 250 °C, qui est craqué sur catalyseur NAFION pour former de l'éthylène et de l'acide acétique à une température d'environ 185 °C, qui sont ensuite mélangés à de l'oxygène moléculaire pour réagir sur un catalyseur de palladium/or/potassium supporté sur rutile, pour former le MAV à une température comprise entre environ 150 °C et 170 °C.
