Abstract:
(EN) A content addressable memory (CAM) includes ports through which keys having at least a 16 bit function are received or transmitted. The CAM includes a processing unit in communication with the ports. The CAM includes a storage portion in which the keys are stored in communication with a processing unit. The CAM includes a programmable key update mechanism in communication with the processing unit which updates the keys without the keys leaving the CAM. A method for using a content addressable memory (CAM) includes the steps of receiving keys having at least a 16 bit function at a port. There is the step of storing the keys in a storage portion in communication with a processing unit. There is the step of updating the keys without the keys leaving the CAM with a programmable key update mechanism in communication with a processing unit.
(FR) L'invention porte sur une mémoire adressable par le contenu (CAM) qui comprend des ports à travers lesquels des clés ayant au moins une fonction 16 bits sont reçues ou transmises. La mémoire adressable par le contenu comprend une unité de traitement en communication avec les ports. La mémoire adressable par le contenu comprend une partie de stockage dans laquelle les clés sont stockées, en communication avec une unité de traitement. La mémoire adressable par le contenu comprend un mécanisme de mise à jour de clés programmable en communication avec l'unité de traitement, qui met à jour les clés sans que les clés ne quittent la mémoire adressable par le contenu. L'invention porte également sur un procédé pour utiliser une mémoire adressable par le contenu (CAM), qui comprend les étapes de réception de clés ayant au moins une fonction 16 bits à un port. Il y a l'étape de stockage des clés dans une partie de stockage en communication avec une unité de traitement. Il y a l'étape de mise à jour des clés sans que les clés ne quittent la mémoire adressable par le contenu avec un mécanisme de mise à jour de clés programmable en communication avec une unité de traitement.
