Abstract:
(EN) The invention provides methods of enhancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) via ureolysis-induced mineral trapping, solubility trapping, and/or structural trapping. In various embodiments described herein, gases such as CO2 may be trapped in a non-labile phase. In one embodiment, trapping of CO2 in a non-labile phase occurs through mineral trapping, where carbonate ions from the injected CO2 may ultimately be incorporated into solid carbonate minerals, such as a CaCO3 lattices or other mineral lattices. In another embodiment, trapping of CO2 in a non-labile phase occurs via solubility trapping, where aqueous inorganic carbon species are contained in the formation water itself. As described herein, the precipitation of solid carbonate materials such as CaCO3 can also result in the reduction in the porosity of the subsurface formation, thus reducing the potential for CO2 leakage to the surface.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des procédés d'amélioration de capture et de stockage de carbone (CCS) via un piégeage minéral provoqué par uréolyse, un piégeage de solubilité et/ou un piégeage structurel. Selon divers modes de réalisation décrits, des gaz, tels que CO2, peuvent être piégés dans une phase non labile. Selon un mode de réalisation, le piégeage du CO2 dans une phase non labile est effectué par un piégeage minéral au cours duquel des ions de carbonate provenant du CO2 injecté peuvent être finalement incorporés dans des minéraux de carbonate solides, du type réseaux CaCO3 ou autres réseaux minéraux.
