Abstract:
(EN) A reciprocating device which may be operated either as a compressor or an engine. Each cylinder has a reciprocating piston connected to a piston rod. Dual cylinder chambers are located in each cylinder on opposite sides of the piston. The pistons are connected to a scotch yoke which translates the reciprocating motion of the pistons to rotary motion at a shaft in the engine mode. In the compressor mode, the shaft is connected to a power source. The engine components such as the pistons, rods, bushings and cylinder liners may be high quality steel or ceramic.
(FR) L'invention concerne un dispositif à mouvement alternatif capable de fonctionner soit comme compresseur, soit comme moteur. Chaque cylindre comporte un piston à mouvement alternatif relié à une tige de piston. Des chambres doubles de cylindre sont situées dans chaque cylindre de part et d'autre du piston. Les pistons sont reliés à un étrier à coulisse (scotch yoke) qui convertit le mouvement alternatif des pistons en mouvement de rotation d'un arbre en mode moteur. En mode compresseur, l'arbre est relié à une source de puissance. Les composants du moteur tels que les pistons, les tiges, les douilles et les chemises de cylindres peuvent être en acier de haute qualité ou en céramique.
