Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a method and microbial host strain for converting a hexuronic acid to a hexaric acid. In particular, the invention relates to the con- version of D-galacturonic acid to meso-galactaric acid (mucic acid). The invention also concerns an isolated nucleotide sequence. According to the present method a microbial host strain genetically modified to express uronate dehydrogenase enzyme (EC 1.1.1.203)is contacted with a biomaterial comprising hexuronic acid and the conversion products are recovered. By using the recombinant microorganisms of the present invention it is possible to treat biomaterials comprising hexuronic acids and thereby decrease the amount of hexuronic acids released to the environment.
(FR) La présente invention porte sur un procédé et une souche hôte microbienne pour convertir un acide hexuronique en un acide hexarique. En particulier, l'invention porte sur la conversion d'acide D-galacturonique en acide méso-galactarique (acide mucique). L'invention porte également sur une séquence nucléotidique isolée. Selon le présent procédé, une souche hôte microbienne génétiquement modifiée pour exprimer l'enzyme uronate déshydrogénase (EC 1.1.1.203) est mise en contact avec une matière biologique comprenant de l'acide hexuronique et les produits de conversion sont récupérés. À l'aide des microorganismes recombinants de la présente invention, il est possible de traiter des matières biologiques comprenant des acides hexuroniques et ainsi de diminuer la quantité d'acides hexuroniques libérés dans l'environnement.
