Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a method aiding in the assessment of cancer. It discloses the use of the arginine-rich metastasized in early tumors protein (= ARMET) as a universal marker of different cancer types. ARMET aids in the assessment of pulmonary or lung cancer (LC) or of colon cancer, e.g. of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) or colorectal cancer (CRC), but also likely of other specific types of cancer. Such specific cancer types are e.g. breast, ovary, cervix, head and neck, endometrium, melanoma, bladder, kidney, pancreas, prostate, esophagus, stomach or bile duct cancer. Furthermore, it especially relates to a method for assessing cancer from a liquid sample, derived from an individual by measuring ARMET in said sample. Measurement of ARMET can, e.g., be used in the early detection of cancer or in the surveillance of patients who undergo surgery.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé qui aide à évaluer le cancer et l'utilisation de la protéine métastasée dans les tumeurs précoces riches en arginine (= ARMET) en tant que marqueur universel des différents types de cancer. ARMET aide à évaluer un cancer du poumon (LC) ou un cancer du côlon, par exemple un carcinome du poumon non à petites cellules (NSCLC) ou un cancer colorectal (CRC), mais également probablement d'autres types spécifiques de cancer. De tels types de cancer particuliers sont par exemple le cancer du sein, de l'ovaire, du col de l'utérus, de la tête et du cou, de l'endomètre, un mélanome, le cancer de la vessie, du rein, du pancréas, de la prostate, de l'œsophage, de l'estomac ou du canal biliaire. De plus, l'invention concerne particulièrement un procédé pour évaluer un cancer à partir d'un échantillon liquide, issu d'un individu, par la mesure de ARMET dans ledit échantillon. La mesure de ARMET peut par exemple être utilisée dans la détection précoce du cancer ou dans la surveillance de patients qui subissent une opération chirurgicale.
