Abstract

A method of producing an image 5 in a coating applied to an article, the method including the steps of - applying one or more magnets 2 to a ferrous substrate 1 to form a magnetic image, - removing the one or more magnets 2, - applying a coating containing magnetic particles, which align with the magnetic image to form the image 5, and - curing the coating to fix the image. The method may include a delay or dwell period between the formation of the magnetic image and the application of the coating containing magnetic particles. Despite the delay or dwell period, the substrate retains the magnetic image and the intensity / clarity of the image will be maintained.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une image 5 dans un revêtement appliqué à un article, procédé qui comprend les étapes consistant à appliquer un ou plusieurs aimants 2 à un substrat ferreux 1 pour former une image magnétique, retirer le(s) aimant(s) 2, appliquer un revêtement contenant des particules magnétiques qui s'alignent sur l'image magnétique pour former l'image 5, et durcir le revêtement pour fixer l'image. Le procédé peut comporter un temps d'attente ou de maintien entre la formation de l'image magnétique et l'application du revêtement contenant des particules magnétiques. Malgré ce temps d'attente ou de maintien, le substrat garde l'image magnétique, et l'intensité ou la clarté de l'image est conservée.
