Apparatus for use in performing impedance measurements on a subject, wherein the apparatus includes a processing system for, at each of three frequencies, determining first and second parameter values for first and second impedance parameters relating to the impedance of at least one body segment of the subject, solving simultaneous equations representing a circle defined with respect to the first and second impedance parameters to thereby determine circle parameter values, the equations being solved using the first and second parameter values at each of the three frequencies, using the circle parameter values to determine a third impedance parameter value at a respective frequency and using the third impedance parameter value to determine an indicator indicative of relative fluid levels within the body segment of the subject.

La présente invention concerne un appareil destiné à être utilisé pour effectuer des mesures d'impédance sur un sujet. Ledit appareil inclut un système de traitement permettant, sur trois fréquences distinctes, de réaliser les étapes suivantes : déterminer des première et seconde valeurs de paramètre pour des premier et second paramètres d'impédance concernant l'impédance d'au moins un segment de corps du sujet ; résoudre des équations simultanées qui représentent un cercle défini par rapport aux premier et second paramètres d'impédance, afin de déterminer ainsi des valeurs de paramètre de cercle, les équations étant résolues au moyen des première et seconde valeurs de paramètre à chacune des trois fréquences ; utiliser les valeurs de paramètre de cercle pour déterminer une troisième valeur de paramètre d'impédance à une fréquence respective ; et utiliser ladite troisième valeur de paramètre d'impédance pour déterminer un indicateur indiquant des niveaux de fluide relatifs dans le segment de corps du sujet.
