(EN)An electrochemical method for the production of a chlorine-based oxidant product, such as sodium hypochlorite, is disclosed. The method may potentially be used to produce sodium hypochlorite from sea water or low purity un-softened or NaCl-based salt solutions. The method utilizes alkali cation-conductive ceramic membranes, such as membranes based on NaSICON-type materials, and organic polymer membranes in electrochemical cells to produce sodium hypochlorite. Generally, the electrochemical cell includes three compartments and the first compartment contains an anolyte having a basic pH.
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé électrochimique pour produire un produit oxydant à base de chlore, comme l'hypochlorite de sodium. Le procédé peut être potentiellement utilisé pour produire de l'hypochlorite de sodium à partir d'eau de mer ou de solutions salines de faible pureté non adoucies ou à base de NaCl. Le procédé emploie des membranes de céramique conductrices de cations alcalins, comme des membranes à base de matériaux de type Nasicon, et des membranes de polymères organiques dans des cellules électrochimiques afin de produire de l'hypochlorite de sodium.
