(EN)The invention relates to a catalytic burner (1) being part of a fuel cell system, said burner comprises a hollow housing (2). The hollow housing (2) has a fuel/air mixture inlet (3) at a first end (13) and an exhaust outlet (6) at a second end (14). The hollow housing (2) further comprises a catalytic element (5) extending over substantially the entire cross-sectional area of the hollow housing (2). The catalytic element (5) is distributed in a longitudinal direction of the hollow housing (2) and the cross-sectional area of the hollow housing (2) increases in the longitudinal direction of the hollow housing (2) from the first end (13) to the second end (14).The invention also relates to a method of catalytic combustion.
