A laser unit, usable in a network interface unit (NIU), that includes a laser (24) adapted to generate an optical signal having a wavelength, a temperature control system for establishing a temperature of the laser and a controller functionally connected to the temperature control system (28) for setting the temperature, the controller configured to automatically vary the temperature between a high temperature and a low temperature different than the high temperature. Also an NIU and a system of NIU' s including the laser and an associated method of controlling the laser.

L'invention porte sur une unité laser, utilisable dans une unité d'interface réseau (NIU), qui comprend un laser (24) apte à générer un signal optique d'une certaine longueur d'onde, un système de commande de température pour établir une température du laser et un contrôleur connecté de manière fonctionnelle au système de commande de température (28) pour réguler la température, le contrôleur étant configuré pour faire varier automatiquement la température entre une température haute et une température basse différente de la température haute. L'invention porte également sur un NIU et sur un système du NIU comprenant le laser et sur un procédé associé de commande du laser.
