A device for controlling an automated transmission with discrete gear ratios of a motor vehicle power plant able to preposition at least one transmission system operating parameter as a function of the next gear change to be performed, comprises a means (1) of estimating the gradient (P) of the road surface along which the vehicle is running, and comprises a stored map (9) linking the accelerator instruction, the gradient (P) of the road surface, and the sign of the actual acceleration of the vehicle. The device comprises a logic processor (3) which continuously delivers a Boolean upshift variable signalling a forthcoming upshift or downshift in transmission ratio, as a function of which Boolean variable the said operating parameter is prepositioned.

Un dispositif de commande d'une transmission automatisée à rapports discrets d'un groupe motopropulseur pour véhicule automobile apte à effectuer un prépositionnement d'au moins un paramètre de fonctionnement du système de transmission en fonction du prochain changement de rapport à effectuer, comprend un moyen d' estimation (1) de la pente de la chaussée P sur laquelle se déplace le véhicule, et comprend une cartographie mémorisée (9) reliant la consigne d'accélérateur, la pente de la chaussée P et le signe de l'accélération effective du véhicule. Le dispositif comprend un bloc logique (3) qui délivre en continu une variable booléenne de montée signalant une montée ou une descente prochaine de rapport de la transmission, variable booléenne en fonction de laquelle est effectué le prépositionnement dudit paramètre de fonctionnement.
