(EN)A vascular catheter embedded with a radiopaque material providing a distinct, non-physiological pattern that may be easily detected on a radiograph. The radiopaque material may be embedded within the wall of the catheter in an open wound, helical formation. Detection of the catheter by x-ray is increased due to the non-physiological radiograph pattern and due to the increased presence of the radiopaque material. The non-physiological formation increases the radiopacity of the catheter, yet requires less radiopaque material than traditional radiopaque catheters. The non-physiological formation and decreased amount of radiopaque material provides for a more detectible and less rigid catheter that is resistant to kinks and occlusions.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un cathéter vasculaire qui renferme un matériau radio-opaque donnant un profil non physiologique distinct, qui peut être facilement détecté sur une radiographie. Le matériau radio-opaque peut être inséré au sein de la paroi du cathéter en une formation hélicoïdale bobinée ouverte. La détection du cathéter par un rayon X est augmentée en raison du profil radiographique non physiologique et en raison de la présence accrue du matériau radio-opaque.
