(EN)Excimers are formed in a high pressure gas by applying a potential between a first electrode (14, 214) and a counter electrode (25, 226) so as to impose an electric field within the gas, or by introducing high energy electrons into the gas using an electron beam. A phosphor for converting the wavelength of radiation emitted from the formed excimers is disposed within the gas and outside a region (62, 162) where the excimers are expected to be formed, so as to avoid degradation of the phosphor.
(FR)La présente invention concerne des excimères formés dans un gaz haute pression en appliquant un potentiel entre une première électrode (14, 214) et une contre-électrode (25, 226) de manière à imposer un champ électrique dans le gaz, ou en introduisant des électrons à haute énergie dans le gaz à l’aide d’un faisceau d’électrons. Un luminophore destiné à convertir la longueur d’onde du rayonnement émis des excimères formés est disposé dans le gaz et à l’extérieur d’une zone (62, 162) où l’on s’attend à la formation d’excimères, afin d’éviter la dégradation du luminophore.
