(EN)Methods for making a photonic guiding system for directing coherent light are disclosed. The methods include forming a channel (106) in a host layer (102) using at least one process of sawing, laser ablation, laser direct write of a photoresist, photo-structuring, and etching. A layer of highly reflective material (110) is applied to substantially cover an interior of the channel (106). A cover (120) having a layer of highly reflective material (126) is coupled over the channel (106) to form a large core hollow waveguide (150).
