(EN)There is disclosed herein a method of loading a self-expanding stent (10) into a delivery sheath (12) that is by itself strong enough to preserve the stent in a radially compressed pre-deployment configuration, comprising the steps of: (i) compressing the stent (10) to a relatively small diameter; (ii) providing a loading sheath (18) with an inner diameter dl; (iii) with the stent (10) exhibiting an outside diameter of d2, where d2 < dl, providing relative translational movement between the stent (10) and the loading sheath (18), whereby the stent is accommodated within the lumen of the loading sheath (18); (iv) advancing the loading sheath (18), containing the stent (10), into the lumen (16) of the delivery sheath (12); and {v} deploying the stent into the lumen (16) of the delivery sheath (12), by withdrawing the loading sheath (18) while restraining the stent (10) from axial movement out of the lumen (16) of the delivery sheath (12).
(FR)La présente invention concerne un procédé de chargement d’un stent auto-dilatable (10) dans une gaine de pose (12) qui est suffisamment solide en elle-même pour conserver le stent dans une configuration de pré-déploiement comprimée radialement. Ledit procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : (i) comprimer le stent (10) jusqu’à un diamètre relativement petit; (ii) fournir une gaine de chargement (18) dotée d’un diamètre interne dl; (iii) conférer un mouvement de translation relatif entre le stent (10) et la gaine de chargement (18), le stent (10) présentant un diamètre externe d2, avec d2 < dl, et ledit stent étant logé dans la lumière de la gaine de chargement (18); (iv) faire avancer la gaine de chargement (18) contenant le stent (10) dans la lumière (16) de la gaine de pose (12); et (v) déployer le stent dans la lumière (16) de la gaine de pose (12), en retirant la gaine de chargement (18) tout en empêchant le stent (10) d’effectuer un mouvement axial entraînant sa sortie de la lumière (16) de la gaine de pose (12).
