(EN)A method of converting an image signal from an original dynamic range to a target dynamic range includes dividing the original dynamic range and the target dynamic range in to a plurality of corresponding sub-ranges and mapping each original sub-range to its corresponding target sub-range. One of the dynamic ranges is divided into a plurality of sub-ranges having equal size and the other dynamic range is divided into the corresponding sub-ranges each having a size based on a characteristic of the corresponding equal size sub-ranges. The invention may be employed in display, capture and image processing apparatus.
(FR)L'invention porte sur un procédé de conversion d'un signal d'image d'une plage dynamique initiale vers une plage dynamique cible, lequel procédé comprend la division de la plage dynamique initiale et de la plage dynamique cible en une pluralité de sous-plages correspondantes et le mappage de chaque sous-plage initiale vers sa sous-plage cible correspondante. L'une des plages dynamiques est divisée en une pluralité de sous-plages ayant des dimensions égales et l'autre plage dynamique est divisée en les sous-plages correspondantes ayant chacune une dimension basée sur une caractéristique des sous-plages de dimensions égales correspondantes.
