(EN)The present invention concerns methods and compositions for making and using multimeric, single chain proteins of a defined structure. The invention also includes nucleic acid expression systems for making such multimeric proteins, and methods for identifying modulators of such multimeric proteins. The invention also comprises methods for predicting the current characteristics based on an arrangement of ion channel subunits, and vice versa.
