(EN)The invention relates to a method for breaking down ethanol into C1 units in a prereformer. According to said method, ethanol and water vapor are reacted on a catalyst comprising platinum on a carrier containing a mixture of ZrO2 and CeO2 at a temperature in the range of 300 to 550°C.
