Abstract
(EN) A method for producing a nanodiamond (n-diamond, p-diamond, i-carbon) in which a nanodiamond is removed from an activated carbon containing the nanodiamond. The activated carbon is prepared by carbonizing and/or activating a carbonaceous feedstock while restricting the presence of oxygen sufficiently to result in the formation of nanodiamonds embedded in carbon. The nanodiamonds can be separated and purified from the activated carbon, and can be concentrated by treatment of the activated carbon with an oxidizing agent. Also provided is a method for producing a nanodiamond, and particularly a nanodiamond fiber, by mixing a carbon source, a metal and an acid under conditions which result in nanodiamond formation. Nanodiamond fibers up to 2000 nanometers or more can be produced. The nanodiamond fibers can be woven or used to provide structural reinforcement for various materials.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un nanodiamant (n-diamant, p-diamant, i-carbone) dans lequel un nanodiamant est extrait d'un carbone activé contenant le nanodiamant. Le carbone activé est élaboré par la mise en œuvre des étapes suivantes: carboniser et/ou activer une charge carbonée tout en limitant suffisamment la présence d'oxygène pour entraîner la formation de nanodiamants incorporés dans le carbone; séparer et purifier les nanodiamants du carbone activé, et concentrer ceux-ci en traitant le carbone activé à l'aide d'un agent oxydant. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé de production d'un nanodiamant, et en particulier d'une fibre de nanodiamant, qui consiste à mélanger une source de carbone, un métal et un acide dans des conditions entraînant la formation de nanodiamants. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir des fibres de nanodiamant d'une taille égale ou supérieure à 2000 nanomètres. Les fibres de nanodiamant peuvent être tissées ou utilisées pour conférer un renfort structural à diverses matières.
