(EN)The invention relates to a method for harvesting green sugarcane in an automated fashion by means of a harvesting machine (10a, 10b), wherein leaves (20) of the sugarcane plant are mechanically separated from the stalk (15) of the sugarcane plant and wherein the stalk (15) is separated from the rootstock only after the leaves (20) have been removed.
