(EN)A cutting tool for machining metal workpieces using polycrystalline diamond cutting surfaces with interspersed guide surfaces and chip evacuation surfaces. When machining holes in cast aluminum alloy workpieces it is found that aluminum machining chips adhere to guide surfaces and chip evacuation surfaces and mar the machined surface. It is found that when the guide and chip evacuation surfaces are coated with a diamond-like carbon material, aluminum chips do not mar the machined surfaces.
(FR)L'invention concerne un outil de coupe destiné à usiner des pièces métalliques à l'aide des surfaces de coupe d'un diamant polycristallin présentant des surfaces de guidage intercalées et des surfaces d'évacuation des copeaux. Lors de l'usinage des trous dans des pièces en alliage d'aluminium coulé, il s'avère que les copeaux d'aluminium adhèrent aux surfaces de guidage et aux surfaces d'évacuation des copeaux et marquent la surface usinée. Il s'avère donc que si les surfaces de guidage et d'évacuation des copeaux sont recouvertes d'un matériau de carbone de type diamant, les copeaux d'aluminium ne marquent pas les surfaces usinées.
