(EN)A glass assembly (10) for use in a structural glass system includes a glass panel (12) having a top surface (20), and a sacrificial glass layer (18) removably secured to the top surface (20). The glass panel (12) may be formed from plural layers of laminated glass. A sealing layer (22) is disposed between the top surface (20) and the sacrificial glass layer (18) to define a chamber (24) therebetween. The glass assembly (10) further includes a valve (32) providing fluid communication between the chamber (24) and the environment to facilitate evacuating fluid from the chamber (24).
(FR)Cette invention concerne une unité de vitrage (10) à utiliser dans un système de verre structurel. Ladite unité comprend un panneau de verre (12) ayant une surface supérieure (20), et une couche de verre sacrificielle (18) fixée de manière amovible à la surface supérieure (20). Le panneau de verre (12) peut être formé de plusieurs couches de verre stratifié.
