The invention relates to a method for managing the operation of at least one catalytic converter (7) fitted in the exhaust line (3) of an internal combustion engine (1), said catalytic converter being bled off based on predetermined criteria such as the moment when a threshold value is reached, wherein said method is characterised in that it comprises at least the following steps: estimating the dilution during rolling (100); comparing the estimated dilution with a predetermined critical threshold (110); modifying the occurrences of the sulphur and nitrogen oxide bleedings from the catalytic converter (7) when the estimated dilution exceeds the threshold (120, 130). The invention also relates to a system for managing the operation of at least one catalytic converter (7) fitted in the exhaust line (3) using the method of the present invention.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de gestion du fonctionnement d'au moins un convertisseur catalytique (7) équipant une ligne d'échappement (3) d'un moteur à combustion interne (1), ledit convertisseur catalytique (7) étant purgés selon des critères déterminés tels que lorsque une valeur seuil est atteinte par exemple, ledit procédé est remarquable en ce qu'il comporte au moins les étapes suivantes de : estimation de la dilution lors du roulage; comparaison de la dilution estimée avec un seuil critique déterminé; modification de l'occurrence des purges des oxydes de soufre et d'azote du convertisseur catalytique (7) lorsque la dilution estimée est supérieure au seuil critique déterminé. Un autre objet de l'invention concerne un système de gestion du fonctionnement d'au moins un convertisseur catalytique (7) équipant la ligne d'échappement (3) mettant en oeuvre le procédé suivant l'invention.
