Abstract

A method for interpolation that includes receiving an input image having a plurality of pixels. The edge direction proximate to a first pixel of the input image is estimated using a first technique from a plurality of discrete potential directions. An edge direction is selected based upon estimating the edge direction proximate to the first pixel of the input image using a second technique. The pixels proximate to the first pixel are interpolated based upon (i) the selected edge direction and/or (ii) another technique. An output image is determined with an amount of pixels greater in number than the originally received plurality of pixels.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'interpolation qui comprend la réception d'une image entrée comportant une pluralité de pixels. La direction de bord à proximité d'un premier pixel de l'image d'entrée est estimée par l'utilisation d'une première technique parmi une pluralité de directions potentielles discrètes. Une direction de bord est sélectionnée sur la base de l'estimation de la direction de bord à proximité du premier pixel de l'image d'entrée par l'utilisation d'une seconde technique. Les pixels à proximité du premier pixel sont interpolés sur la base (i) de la direction de bord sélectionnée et/ou (ii) d'une autre technique. Une image de sortie est déterminée par des pixels en un nombre supérieur à celui de la pluralité de pixels reçus à l'origine.
