Polyalkenyl succinimides which can be obtained with a process which comprises: a. reacting a reactive medium-high molecular weight polyalkene with maleic anhydride at a temperature higher than 180°C; b. carrying out the reaction thermally for a time sufficient for having a conversion of the terminal vinylidene groups higher than 10%; c. completing the thermal reaction in the presence of a reaction accelerator consisting of a Lewis acid; d. reacting the reaction product of step (c) with an amine which has at least one primary aminic group capable of forming an imide group.

L'invention concerne des succinimides de polyalcényle pouvant être obtenus à l'aide d'un procédé consistant a) à faire réagir un polyalkylène réactif de faible poids moléculaire avec de l'anhydride maléique à une température supérieure à 180°C; b) à mettre en oeuvre la réaction thermique pendant une durée suffisante pour permettre une conversion supérieure à 10% des groupes de vinylidène terminaux; c) à terminer la réaction thermique en présence d'un accélérateur de réaction formé d'un acide de Lewis; et d) à faire réagir le produit de réaction de l'étape (c) avec une amine comprenant au moins un groupe aminique primaire pouvant former un groupe imide.
