An organic electroluminescent device which comprises a cathode, an anode, and an organic thin film layer disposed between the electrodes and composed of one or more layers, wherein the organic thin film layer includes at least one luminescent layer and at least one of the luminescent layer(s) comprises a host material represented by the following formula (1) and at least one phosphorescent material. Ra-Ar1-Ar2-Ar3-Rb (1) (In the formula (1), Ra, Rb, Ar1, Ar2, and Ar3 each represents an (un)substituted benzene ring or a fused aromatic hydrocarbon ring selected among a naphthalene ring, chrysene ring, fluoranthene ring, triphenylene ring, phenanthrene ring, benzophenanthrene ring, dibenzophenanthrene ring, benzotriphenylene ring, benzo[b]fluoranthene ring, benzochrysene ring, and picene ring each optionally substituted, provided that when Ar2 is an (un)substituted benzene ring, (un)substituted 2,7-phenanthrenediyl group, or (un)substituted triphenylene ring, then [Ra-Ar1-] and [Rb-Ar3-] respectively are groups differing in structure from each other.)

L'invention porte sur un dispositif électroluminescent organique qui comprend une cathode, une anode et une couche en film mince organique disposée entre les électrodes et composée d'une ou plusieurs couches, la couche en film mince organique comprenant au moins une couche luminescente et une ou plusieurs couches luminescentes comprenant un matériau hôte représenté par la formule suivante (1) et au moins un matériau phosphorescent.
