(EN)An endogenous factor having an inhibitory activity on the growth of hair is identified. A substance having a similar activity of that of the endogenous factor or a substance capable of enhancing the activity or expression of the endogenous factor is screened. By utilizing the physiological activities of the substance, it is possible to provide a hair-removing agent or a hair growth-inhibiting agent. It is found that FGF18 can inhibit the growth of hair. Disclosed is a method for screening a substance having a FGF18-like activity, a substance capable of enhancing the FGF18 activity or a substance capable of enhancing the expression of FGF18 gene and employing the substance as a candidate for a hair growth-inhibiting agent or a hair-removing agent. Also disclosed is a hair growth-inhibiting agent or a hair-removing agent comprising, as an active ingredient, FGF18 and/or a substance having a FGF18-like activity (e.g., a partial peptide of FGF18, an extract from a seaweed Digenea simplex) and/or a substance capable of enhancing the activity or expression of FGF18.
(FR)L'invention concerne un facteur endogène possédant une activité inhibitrice de la croissance des poils. Une substance possédant une activité similaire à ce facteur endogène ou une substance capable de renforcer l'activité ou l'expression de ce facteur endogène est analysée. Dans l'utilisation des activités physiologiques de cette substance, il est possible d'obtenir un agent éliminant les poils ou un agent inhibiteur de croissance des poils. On a découvert que FGF-18 peut inhiber la croissance des poils. L'invention concerne un procédé de recherche d'une substance possédant une activité de type FGF-18 ou une substance capable de renforcer l'expression du gène FGF-18 et utilisant cette substance comme candidat pour un agent inhibiteur de croissance des poils ou un agent éliminant les poils. L'invention concerne aussi un agent inhibiteur de croissance des poils ou un agent éliminant les poils qui comprend, comme principe actif FGF-18 et/ou une substance possédant une activité de type FGF-18 (par exemple un peptide partiel de FGF-18, un extrait d'algue digenea simplex) et/ou une substance capable de renforcer l'activité ou l'expression de FGF-18.
