(EN)A process is disclosed for reducing the viscosity of a hydrocarbon mixture having a viscosity, at 20 °C, of greater than 10,000 cP. The process comprises comprising the steps of: a) contacting the hydrocarbon mixture with inorganic catalyst particles in the presence of water and a surfactant; b) catalytically reducing the average molecular weight of the hydrocarbon mixture. The process is particularly suitable for making heavy fossil fuel sources amenable to processing in conventional refinery equipment.
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé de réduction de la viscosité d'un mélange d'hydrocarbures présentant une viscosité, à 20°C, supérieur à 10000 cP. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant: a) à mettre en contact le mélange d'hydrocarbures avec des particules de catalyseur inorganique en présence d'eau et d'un tensioactif; b) à réduire catalytiquement le poids moléculaire moyen du mélange d'hydrocarbures. Le procédé est particulièrement approprié pour la production de sources de combustibles fossiles lourds pouvant faire l'objet d'un traitement dans un équipement de raffinerie classique.
